Frequently asked Questions

How can I sign up to take the Geographical Dictation?

It is necessary for you to register at a venue/platform in your area in order to take part in the Geographical Dictation.
Using the “Dictation Geography” or “Click on map to become participant and choose a venue” or “Choose venue for participation” sections of the website dictant.rgo.ru, you can select any location/platform for the Dictation in your surrounding area. Check out the requirements for registering at the venue/platform (by phone, email, or in person) from the organisers. The Geographic Dictation will take place on November 16 or 17, 2024 (subject to the venue organizer's decision). The Dictation's distant (remote) format will be accessible only on November 16 at 12:00 local time.

Despite writing a dictation at the venue/platform, I did not receive a participation certificate. How should I move forward?

After the Dictation is written in person, the participant's certificate is handed out right there at the venue. The certificate of participation will be emailed to the registered email address if the participant choose to take the Dictation distantly (remotely).

In the event that you did not receive it, you must:

1. Locate the venue/platform where you completed the Dictation on the website dictant.rgo.ru (under the "Dictation Geography" or “Click on map to become participant and choose a venue” or “Choose venue for participation” section).

2. Contact the person overseeing participant communications (at the venue/platform where you completed the Dictation) via phone or email.

3. Request for a printed or digital certificate of participation in the Dictation.

When and where can I get my completed quiz results?

As of December 12, 2024, you can check your written Dictation results on the website https://dictant.rgo.ru.

Your unique identification number, which consists of 13 digits and is assigned to you at the venue/platform, must be entered in the "Enter form number" space to accomplish this.

If you completed the Dictation in person, you can locate the identification number on the paper that you keep.

Each participant in a distant Dictation receives their unique identification number (or QR code) when completing the registration form.

How do I sign up for Dictation as a venue?

The Dictation venue can only be registered online via the campaign website. Kindly, review the terms of "The Geographical Dictation" carefully before registering as a venue.

How can I register for Dictation as a venue/platform in a distant format?

When registering select "Remotely" under "Will be held" and use the template "Sample for remote dictation" to fill out the "Terms of participation" section.

Note that checking the remote format checkbox is not permitted for the venue's organiser. Only managers of dictation can actually do this. Please notify the dictation managers via phone or email if you choose to switch the venue to a remote format.

How can I take part in the Geographical Dictation remotely/from a distance?

A personalised address (link) for hosting a remote Dictation at the organiser's venue or platform is sent to a participant by the organiser in any convenient manner. Only from 12:00 to 13:00 local time on November 16, 2024, is the link active. A user accesses the website to complete the Dictation by clicking on that specific link. The first fifteen minutes are devoted to the following: an introduction from the Dictation moderator, a brief virtual quiz, a breakdown of the rules, and completing the participation form. Once the participation form has been submitted, the participant moves straight on to the Dictation tasks, which are given in video format and are narrated by individuals of names.

The moment a participant opens the Dictation task form, they have a set amount of time to finish it. The Dictation has 45 minutes to be completed. The participant receives a 13-digit unique (personal) code upon completion of the participation form; this code also serves as the Dictation form number. It is best to save this code. Up until 13:00 local time, the code is valid. In the event of disconnect, utilise the unique 13-digit code that was provided and saved to continue the Dictation. If there are technical issues and the participant needs to re-enter the system, they will be given an additional 45 minutes to finish the Dictation, starting from the beginning of the presentation.

Where can the venue/platform organiser find the unique URL (link) for the remote/distant Dictation?

A unique URL (link) is created for every venue/platform and can be found in the venue description (visiting card). This URL is not sent to the venue organiser's email by the Dictation managers. Every participant who has registered receives a copy of the unique link via email from the venue organiser.

I registered the venue for the Dictation last year, and I hope to organise it once more in 2024. Do I have to re-complete the online registration form?

No, this isn't required. Enter your existing login information to access your personal account, then choose the "copy" option located in the "Actions" section next to the registration from the previous year. Please verify that the transmitted data is accurate, pertinent, and compliant with the updated registration form. If necessary, make the relevant adjustments. Please be aware that the registration needs to be submitted with a Letter of Guarantee dated 2024.

What is the process for enrolling possible Dictation takers at my venue?

The venue organiser seeks participation requests from people who would want to write the Dictation at its venue, keeps track of participants in any convenient manner (by phone, email, or by creating an online registration form), and creates a list in any handy format. There is no need to transmit a list of participants to the Dictation email or register people using the link that the organiser receives for the remote/distant Dictation; registration on the Dictation website is not expected.

How can I spread the word about Dictation to prospective participants?

Decisions on the Dictation's promotion strategies are made separately by each venue organiser and can include announcements, the posting of promotional materials on the organisation's website, social media platforms, and email lists.

I filled out the venue registration application and created an account on the Dictation website. Where can I check the progress of my application?

An application for registration will be assessed in 7 working days. The venue account shows the application's status.

Is there another day I could schedule Dictation?

In 2024, the Dictation will be held on November 16 or 17 at 12:00 local time (up to the organisers' discretion). Also, only on November 16 at 12:00 local time is it possible to take the Dictation remotely/distantly. It is prohibited to organise the Dictation on any other day or at a time other than the one specified in the Regulations. For those who are unable to participate on November 16–17, the "Extra variant" will be available as an additional version on the website dictant.rgo.ru from November 17 at 14:00 Moscow time until December 1 at 14:00 Moscow time.

Can a venue be registered beyond the venue registration deadline of November 8, 2024?

No, venues are required to register in accordance with the Regulations on the Geographical Dictation - 2024 by November 8 (inclusive). There will still be the option to amend venue information that has already been registered.

Despite my efforts, my venue was not added to the list of active venues even though I was able to register it before November 8. Will there be any further consideration of my application?

All applications received by November 8 at 23:59:59 will be examined. The venue will be listed if your application is correctly completed. Managers will get in touch with you via phone or email if more clarification is required.
